Scottrade American Investor Study

American investors are viewing the market with opportunistic enthusiasm. This rise in confidence to spot entry points into the market is coupled with the annual study’s confirmation of a continued trend toward more investors identifying themselves as independent.

While the majority of investors continue to report feeling stressed about their day-to-day financial situation, respondents across generations revealed a common – and optimistic – thread. All have saving for retirement top of mind and plan to either maintain or invest more money next year. Information collected from Baby Boomer investors, however, did reveal an additional stressor: while working to invest for retirement, nearly one in four report continuing to support an adult child.
