We’re Still Working Together with You

As the president of Scottrade, I think it’s important to provide some perspective into how we’re planning to serve you in light of the Oct. 24 announcement that TD Ameritrade will acquire Scottrade.

In short, nothing’s changing from our end. Our experienced, professional Investment Consultants in nearly 500 branches around the country stand ready to help you in any way they can. We’re committed to working just as hard as we always have on your trading strategies, investing plans and retirement goals. Our platforms, tools and vast array of online support and education will remain in place.

Scottrade will continue to do what it always has: Focus squarely on helping each of you overcome barriers to financial success. (Forgive me if you’ve heard that before, but it really is a guiding principle for us at Scottrade. I think it helps explain why we ranked “Highest in Overall Satisfaction with Self-Directed Services” in the J.D. Power 2016 U.S. Self-Directed Investor Satisfaction Study.)

We’re dedicated to a client-focused, listen-first approach to business. We still want to hear from you – your concerns, your questions, your ideas. I would encourage you to talk to someone from your local branch, either in person or by phone.

But what about the future? What will happen after the transition? Honestly, a lot of the details are still being worked out. We’re very early in a process that could take another 8-11 months to complete. But I promise that we will continuously update this space as soon as we have information to share. We want to be as transparent as possible.

Here’s what I know today: When Scottrade and TD Ameritrade are combined, clients from both will benefit from the best of each firm. Scottrade’s branch network will remain largely intact. That means you’ll keep getting the personal support you’ve come to expect. You’ll have access to a full suite of mature products and services, low-cost trading, and industry-leading education resources.

I’m confident you’ll find TD Ameritrade just as focused on you and your financial success as you’ve come to expect with Scottrade.

Scottrade and TD Ameritrade Coming Together as One

Dear Clients,

I am pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached for Scottrade to be acquired by TD Ameritrade. Separately, Scottrade Bank has reached a similar agreement with TD Bank Group.

For more than 36 years, we have been committed to delivering exceptional value, service and support to help investors overcome barriers to financial success. Both Scottrade and TD Ameritrade share a commitment to providing the best client experience possible. Through our combined companies, you will still have access to our local branch network and the exceptional service and support you’ve come to expect from Scottrade. You will also benefit from:

  • Professional-grade trading platforms
  • An expanded product offering, including complex options, futures and forex*
  • A wide variety of education
  • A full spectrum of advice solutions to help you continue to trade and invest successfully

For now, nothing changes and no action is needed on your part. It will take 9-12 months for the transactions to close and until then, we will be operating as separate and independent companies. That means it is business as usual at Scottrade. You will continue to use our trading platforms, work with your local branch team, and use your Scottrade Bank accounts just as you always have.

When will the acquisition be complete?

The transactions are subject to customary regulatory approvals and a closing period that is expected to take 9-12 months. It should be complete by Sept. 30, 2017. During that time, there is no impact to your account or your ability to do business with Scottrade and your experience with us will remain the same.

Will anything change with my Scottrade brokerage, Scottrade Bank, Scottrade Investment Management or ScottradePRO accounts?

This announcement will not impact your accounts. Until the transactions close we will be operating as separate and independent companies. You will have the same account, with the same access to the platforms you have always enjoyed. Our branch offices and support teams like the Active Trader Group will continue to assist you in every way possible.

Will anything change with my ability to access ScottradeELITE, the Scottrade Mobile App or other Scottrade platforms and tools?

No. You will continue to have access to all of the same Scottrade platforms and tools during this period. As we near the close of the transaction, you will be kept informed of any changes.

What happens to my account when the acquisitions are complete?

Scottrade, TD Ameritrade and TD Bank Group will be working closely together to ensure our clients’ account transitions are smooth and simple.

If I am in the process of transferring my account to Scottrade, does this announcement impact me?

No. We will still be opening new accounts and accepting incoming transfers, helping our clients just as we always have.
